The winners of the fifth edition of the Premier Middle East Watches, Jewellery & Pens Awards will be announced in a glittering ceremony at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on 17 November 2009. Popular award-winning Lebanese singer and composer Ragheb Alameh, whose musical career spans over 25 years, will attend the event as a special guest.
Organised by the publishers of Arabian Watches and Jewellery Magazine, MPParabia, this invitation only event takes place on the sidelines of Jewellery Arabia 2009 under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Hassan Abdullah Fakhro, Minister of Industry & Commerce. The awards recognise jewellery, watch and pens brands for their creativity and distinction.
A total of 486 nominations for the awards were received from some of the finest international brands. The award results are determined by a public online vote and an independent 14-member committee especially empanelled by Arabian Watches and Jewellery Magazine, comprising of watch, jewellery and pen collectors with no direct commercial ties to the industry.
Despite the ongoing recession, we have been gratified and encouraged by the industry’s response to this year’s Premier Middle East Watches, Jewellery & Pens Awards
said MPParabia director Nader Freiha.
I believe this is an affirmation of the global industry’s faith and confidence in the Middle East region, which is showing early signs of recovery. The awards selection process has worked like clockwork thanks to our tried and tested systems and corresponding checks and balances in place
he added.
A total of 20 awards, especially designed for the event, will be presented to ten watch category winners and five winners in each of the jewellery and pen categories.
The ceremony will be attended by members of the Bahrain royal family, invited VIPs, senior government officials, regional and international watch and jewellery industry figures and other special invitees.
