
Jewellery Arabia 2009 ended on a high note on 29 November 2009 having attracted over 42,000 visitors. Of the total, 26% of visitors were drawn from Saudi Arabia - the region’s single largest market - with significant support also coming from Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE and other neighbouring countries.
The exhibition was inaugurated by His Highness the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa on 25 November in an official ceremony accompanied by diplomats, government officials and VIPs.
Jewellery Arabia 2009 was the largest exhibition in the 17 year history of the series, occupying 18,000 square metres of available space at the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre in addition to two temporary structures commissioned by the organisers.
National pavilions from leading jewellery export countries including Brazil, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Thailand and Turkey contributed to a total of 600 exhibitors from 30 countries.
In addition, the dynamic designs of local jewellers were showcased in a pavilion of Bahraini companies coordinated by the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Jewellery Arabia 2009 also witnessed the first major representation from Italy, comprising of 25 jewellery houses organised by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and the Italian Trade Commission.
